Pilot Travel Centers plans to hire more than 10,000 workers this summer across its c-store and gas station chains in the U.S.

The convenience store chain in a May 5 press release announced the planned hiring and said new full- and part-time jobs would be available across its brands, including Pilot and Flying J travel centers, One9 Fuel Network, and at its on-site restaurants in the U.S. and Canada.

Pilot said a “large” number of job opportunities would be available in Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, Texas and Virginia. Pilot said it is looking to hire full- and part-time positions in several areas, including:

  • Travel center leadership.
  • Restaurant leadership.
  • Hourly retail.
  • Hourly food service.
  • Class A CDL Drivers.

Pilot, which operates more than 800 locations, noted employee benefits, including a 15-cent per gallon field discount, weekly pay and a $10 per-shift meal credit.

Pilot also in the release highlighted its ongoing $1 billion initiative to remodel its store fleet. In a 2022 release, Pilot said the three-year project, dubbed “New Horizons,” would involve complete renovations at 400 of its Pilot and Flying J travel centers and smaller upgrades at other locations in its fleet.

Upgrades include remodeled restrooms and showers, expanded kitchen and eating areas and more digital engagement opportunities, the 2022 release said. Other planned upgrades include self-checkout tech, electric vehicle charging stations and more prepared food choices for consumers. Pilot in March launched an updated loyalty program and mobile app geared toward professional drivers, motorists and RV travelers.

"This is an exciting – and rewarding – time to join Pilot," said Jamie Landis, vice president of team member experience at Pilot Co., in a release. "In addition to great perks and benefits, the launch of our new rewards and recognition program, Fueling Recognition, further empowers leaders to celebrate and reward individuals in those moments that matter, big and small."
