Sprouts Farmers Market has 80 new stores in the pipeline — see where they’ve opened so far

Sprouts Farmers Market is gearing up to open its newest store, a location in Las Vegas that will mark the ninth new store opened by the grocer this year.
As Retail Leader previously reported, Sprouts Farmers Market earlier this year detailed plans to close just under a dozen stores this year while opening 30 stores in its new smaller format. Those store closures were largely deferred by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Sprouts. The closing stores are about 30% larger than Sprouts’ current prototype, which is about 23,000 square feet.
“We are expanding with our new 23,000 square foot store, and every store opened this year will be in our new format,” said Jack Sinclair, Sprouts’ CEO, during the grocer’s 2022 fourth-quarter earnings call in March. “We're excited about our robust pipeline of more than 80 approved stores and nearly 60 executed leases. We have already opened four new stores in this first quarter with a plan to open at least 30 stores this year, and we are on track to reach our 10% unit growth starting in 2024.”
The grocer also recently acquired its only two licensed stores, both located in California, meaning it now owns all stores operating under the Sprouts Farmers Market name.
These are the new Sprouts Farmers Market stores that have opened so far this year:
Nashville, Tennessee
Sprouts Farmers Market opened its new store in Nashville on January 20, according to a release. The new store, located at 5821 Nolensville Pike, is the second Sprouts location in Nashville. It opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by LaTanya Channel, director of economic growth and small business development in Nashville, the release said. Sprouts said the store would include local goods, including produce from Southern Valley Fruit and Vegetable.
Surprise, Arizona
The grocer opened its store in Surprise days after the Nashville opening, on February 3, according to Sprouts. Surprise is located at 13650 N. Prasada Pkwy. about 20 miles northwest of Phoenix, Arizona’s capital city.
Lathrop, California
Sprouts Farmers Market opened a store in Lathrop, California, also on February 3, the grocer said. The Northern California location at 16576 Golden Valley Pkwy features local products, including produce G&M Farms, George Perry and Sons and A&A Organic Farms, according to the release.
Norwalk, California
The natural- and organic-focused grocery chain opened another California location a month later, on March 3. The Southern California store is located at 11522 Alondra Blvd. in Norwalk, south of Los Angeles. Sprouts’ highlighted local products at the store, such as produce from ECO Farms, G&M Farm, and George Perry and Sons.
Stockton, California
Sprouts opened another Northern California location in Stockton, California, on March 10, about a week after its previous opening in Norwalk. Like the Norwalk location, Sprouts said the store at 5308 Pacific Ave, Suite #1040 would feature local offerings from ECO Farms, G&M Farms, and George Perry and Sons.
The Villages, Florida
Sprouts Farmers Market opened a store in The Villages, Florida, on March 17. The store, located 330 Buena Vista Blvd., will have fresh fruits and vegetables from Wish Farms, Grimes Produce and Egan Family Farms, Sprouts said. The grocer currently has more than 30 stores in the state.
Merced, California
Another California store opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 24 at 171 E. Yosemite Ave. in Merced. Local products will also come from ECO Farms, G&M Farms, and George Perry and Sons, a release said.
Lancaster, California
Sprouts’ location in Lancaster, California, opened to shoppers on April 28, according to a release. The store, located at 43668 15 Street West, will include local produce from ECO Farms, G&M Farms, and George Perry and Sons, Sprouts said.
Coming soon: Las Vegas, Nevada
A Las Vegas Sprouts store is slated to open on May 5, according to the grocer. Sprouts Farmers Market has more than a dozen locations in Nevada, nine of which are located in Las Vegas. Nevada-based Peri and Sons Farms is one of the local vendors Sprouts is working with in the region, the release said.
